notes from the battlefield
And With The Wind I am found, in this unfortunate way, upside down and tangled I am alive! With a twitch of a leg and a quiet cry I am experienced! I think, knowing not to move too much. A warm casket of silk will relieve what ails Species expendables, more of me to come Valhalla at last, I say, a breath nearer to death. And Luck with The Wind and a fall... and I shall be gifted another day to fear.
The cricket in the black and white photograph above gained the assistance of the wind, enough to shake her body loose. She dropped from the large spider web straight to the ground in a thump and took off running.
When examining the ground below the web, a less fortunate cricket was found by my friend Justin, who dropped it directly on my paper to photograph. Sometimes, the wind blows in your favor, sometimes, it does not.
